Terms and Conditions
2024 - 2025
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully. All contracts that Booster tutoring enters with service users will be governed by these Terms and Conditions for the duration of the use of services.
By entering into a verbal agreement to receive tuition, you are inherently agreeing to adhere to the terms and conditions.
1. Lesson Expectations
1.1. The lessons will last for 50 minutes in total, this will include a 5-minute break in the middle of the lesson to give the student the chance to have a small movement break/ toilet break. There is a lot of research that supports giving children a small break after 20/25 minutes of learning.
1.2. Up to 10 minutes of feedback is offered at the end of the lesson for the parents/carers of the student if they wish. This is not mandatory.
1.3. Due to the nature of timing with other tutees the lesson time begins upon the tutor's arrival at your house (or in the case of online learning the lessons start upon the agreed start time even if the student is late) so please make sure you are ready to start your lesson. Reminders can be sent 24 hours in advance if requested.
1.4. Any reports will be written upon request termly.
1.5. Whilst the parent/carer does not need to be in the same room for the lesson they must be in the house/ building at the time of the lesson.
1.6. Children are expected to behave appropriately (physical violence will not be tolerated and the lesson will end immediately with full payment expected for the lesson).
1.7. An appropriate space is required in the house for tuition to take place. A desk and chair/ chairs (for face-to-face tutoring).
1.8. For online lessons your child must not take screenshots or record the lesson unless given permission by their tutor.

2.2. In the case of starting lessons halfway through a month only option (2) will be available until the following month where option (1) will be available again.
2.3. Late payments will result in the next lessons not going ahead until payment has been received – unless agreed otherwise (reminders will be sent before the next lesson).
2.4. Hourly rate will be agreed upon before the start of the first lesson (face-to-face and online £40). These prices have been selected as they reflect the experience, training and additional costs that go into these lessons.

3.3. Repeated cancellations will be subjected to a review with the possibility of a contract termination. This is due to the financial costs of repetitive cancellations.
3.4. Pre-arranged absences will not be charged (holidays etc).
3.5. If a lesson has been pre-paid but you have cancelled within the agreed 24 hours the payment will roll onto the following month (it will show in your invoice as a discount).

3.7. If your tutor is ill or unable to attend a lesson your prepayment will be rolled onto the following month, or a refund will be given if you do not have lessons booked for the following term. No charge will be given to those who pay daily.
3.8. If your child is sick or there is COVID-19 within the household, you must cancel the lesson before the tutor arrives. If you do not disclose this before the lesson you will be charged for it and the lesson will be cancelled. This is to ensure other families with vulnerable people do not get sick.

4.2. If holidays are being taken in term time, please provide notice of this.
4.3. Your tutor will also provide notice of any planned holidays.

8. E-Safety for Online Lessons
For children working online, they are expected to observe the following e-safety rules:
8.1. Login with a recognisable name (this can be theirs or the set parent's name
whose login they might be using) this makes it easier to let in the correct people from the waiting room.
8.2. Meeting links and passwords must not be shared with anyone other than the adults helping them to log in.
8.3. The chat function is disabled, they must not hold private chats with other students without the tutor's supervision.
8.4. Videos must be switched on unless pre-agreed otherwise.
8.5. Lessons must not be recorded and no screenshots are allowed to be taken this is due to the safety of the other children in the group.

A 5-minute warm-up activity will be given as we wait for everyone to join, after that the main lesson will start with or without those who are late. Due to the nature of online group work, it is unlikely your child’s tutor will be able to fill them in on the missed work.
8.11. Please make sure your child has the necessary equipment before the lesson starts (pencil/pen/workbook).
8.12. Children not abiding by the group's expectations will face possible removal after 2 warnings and you will still be charged for the lesson.
